[origin: US4787817A] A device for maintaining clearance between rotor blades and a surrounding housing is disclosed in which the device radially expands or contracts to match the expansion or contraction of the rotor blade tips. The expansion or contraction of the device is achieved by thermal transfer between the device and the gasses passing over the rotor blades. The device has several alternating segments having different thermal characteristics such that the expansion/contraction characteristics of the rotor blade can be accurately matched by the device.

Le carter (2) de turbomachine est doublé intérieurement d'une paroi annulaire rigide (5) constituée d'une succession de segments solidaires alternativement d'un type (6a) à faible inertie thermique et d'un type (6b) à inertie thermique élevée. Au contact des gaz de la veine de circulation dans l'étage de rotor associé, les déplacements radiaux de ladite paroi (5) reproduisent automatiquement les déplacements radiaux des têtes d'aubes mobiles (1) dudit rotor. Ladite paroi (5) est reliée au carter (2) par des biellettes (9) placées selon une direction tangentielle et laissant toute liberté de déplacement radial à la paroi (5).
