[origin: WO8601515A1] Methods and compositions for the efficient production of a polypeptide product which has biological activity corresponding to that of natural human connective tissue activator peptide-III (CTAP-III) and degradation products thereof, such as beta -thromboglobulin. A synthetic gene for the CTAP-III polypeptide is joined to a secretory leader and processing signal sequence derived from yeast alpha -factor. The resulting DNA construct provides for expression and secretion of the gene product from yeast. Enhanced yields of the product may then be recovered from the nutrient medium.
