[origin: WO8601595A1] A thermometer comprises a temperature sensing device (1) and a separate temperature reading device (2). The sensing device comprises a tuned circuit (3, 4, 5) whose resonant frequency varies with temperature. The reading device measures the resonant frequency of the tuned circuit and converts this to the corresponding temperature for display (12). The thermometer may be used for clinical purposes and allows the sensing device, which does not contain any components which would be damaged by heating, to be sterilised by heat. The separate reading device is not subject to contamination and so does not require sterilising.

Un thermomètre comprend un capteur de température (1) et un indicateur de température séparé (2). Le capteur comprend un circuit accordé (3, 4, 5) dont la fréquence de résonance varie avec la température. L'indicateur mesure la fréquence de résonance du circuit accordé et la convertit à la température correspondante en produisant un affichage (12). Ce thermomètre peut être utilisé dans des applications cliniques et permet la stérilisation par la chaleur du capteur, qui ne contient aucun composant pouvant être endommagé par la chaleur. Le dispositif indicateur séparé n'est pas soumis à contamination et ne requiert donc pas de stérilisation.
