Abstract (en)
The invention relates to treating radioactive waste consisting chiefly of used ion-exchange resin. The ion-exchange resin adsorbs water to swell. It has therefore been difficult to solidify waste maintaining high charging ratio and increased strength. According to this invention, ion-exchange resin is carbonized through thermal decomposition, and a hydrophobic property is imparted thereto. The resin is then solidified after removing gas that is adsorbed by the carbonized resin.

Traitement de déchets radioactifs consistant principalement en une série à échange ionique épuisée. La résine à échange ionique adsorbe l'eau pour gonfler. Il a été par conséquent difficile de solidifier les déchets en maintenant un taux de charge élevé et une résistance accrue. Selon la présente invention, la résine à échange ionique est carbonisée par décomposition thermique, en lui conférant une propriété hydrophobe. La résine est ensuite solidifiée après avoir extrait le gaz qu'elle a adsorbé.
