1. Exhaust manifold for a least four cylinder combustion engines with internal combustion comprising outlet pipes (1 to 6) each associated with one cylinder which are brought together groupwise into associated further exhaust pipes (7, 8), which in turn open into a common exhaut pipe (9) leading to an exhaut silencer (10 to 12), wherein all outlet pipes (1 to 6) and likewise the further exhaust pipes (7, 8) respectively each have the same length, characterized in that the total cross-sectional area of the outlet pipes (1 to 6) is larger than the total cross-sectional area of the further exhaust pipes (7, 8), the total cross-sectional area of which is in turn larger than that of the common exhaust pipe (9) ; and in that the outlet pipes (1 to 6) are brought together with nozzle-like narrowed openings into the further exhaust pipes (7, 8) which in turn open with nozzle -like narrowed openings into the common exhaust pipe (9).

Jedem Zylinder eines Verbrennungsmotors ist ein Auslaßrohr (1 bis 6) zugeordnet. Diese Auslaßrohre (1 bis 6) bilden zwei Gruppen, indem die Auslaßrohre (1 bis 3 bzw. 4 bis 6) jeder Gruppe in ein weiterführendes Abgasrohr (7, 8) zusammengeführt sind. Die weiterführenden Abgasrohre (7, 8) sind ihrerseits in ein gemeinsames Abgasrohr (9) zusammengeführt. Der Gesamtquerschnitt des Auspuffstranges nimmt von den Auslaßrohren (1 bis 6) zum gemeinsamen Abgasrohr (9) hin stufenweise ab. Falls eine katalytische Zerlegung des Abgase erwünscht ist, mündet das gemeinsame Abgasrohr (9) in eine Katalysatorkammer (12), der in der Regel ein Nachschalldämpfer (11") nachgeschaltet ist. Zur Steuerung des Motors ist dann zweckmäßigerweise eine Lambda-Sonde (13) in einer entsprechenden Bohrung des gemeinsamen Abgasrohres (9) angeordnet. Falls eine katalytische Zerlegung der Abgase nicht notwendig ist, kann die Lambda-Sonde (13) entfallen. Außerdem mündet dann das gemeinsame Abgasrohr (9) mit oder ohne Aufgabelung in einen Vorschalldämpfer (10, 10'), dem ein Nachschalldämpfer (11, 11') der Regel nachgeordnet ist.
