Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0194146A2] 5-Chlor-3-isothiazolones are stabilized against chemical decomposition in non-aqueous solution using organic hydroxy solvent and, optionally, stabilization salt when the contents of the components are 0.5 to 10% isothiazolone, 89 to 99.5% hydroxy solvent and 0 to 1% stabilization salt, the percentages being by weight of the three stated components, the hydroxy solvent comprising one or more solvents of the formulae: <CHEM> wherein R and R<1> are hydrogen or lower alkyl, X is -CH2OCH2-or -(CH2)n- wherein n is an integer of 1 to 4 and y is an integer of 1 to 150. These compositions exhibit biocidal and preservative properties.
