A waste bin having an outer housing (1) closed by a hinged lid, the outer housing having in cross-section a rectilinear front and back and arcuate transverse sides, insertable buckets (A/B) being removably disposed in said outer housing on either side of a dividing line (E-E) extending between the front and the back, characterised in that the pivot axis (19) of the single hinged lid (13) covering the two insertable buckets (A and B) extends transversely of the dividing line (E-E) and the insertable buckets (A/B) have flat wall portions (4', 5') situated parallel to the dividing line (E-E) and each bucket has two 90 degrees angles, the arms of which continue into the arcuate wall portions and in that the handles (10) of the insertable buckets (A/B) are each hinged to the transition of the parallel portions (4" and 5") into the arcuate wall portions.
