Abstract (en)
Process and apparatus for the production of a dry, binder-containing, fibrous web (1), wherein a liquid binder is applied to said web (1) before the web is passed through a series of driers (11,12,26,27,42,43,44) located on different levels, said web being supported by foraminous wires (10,28,41) and hot air being passed through the web during the passage through each drier, the fibrous web being sucked against a foraminous wire (23) during the passage from one level to another, said foraminous wire being supported by a roller (24) having a perforated surface and the interior of said roller being connected with a source of vacuum. By using the process and the apparatus of the invention, the risk of burst of the web is reduced and the production rate is substantially increased.
