A method for mechanically applying a wrapper to a bunch of cigars or cigarillos is so designed that the overall output can be increased and rejects reduced. To this end, a wrapper (2) is pressed by its end region against an end of a stationary roll (1) and this is then caused to rotate jointly with the rollers of a rolling apparatus, which are initially stationary. In order to carry out the method according to the invention, a wrapping device, having a roller apparatus (7) and a wrapper support (3) is so designed that the rollers (8) of the rolling apparatus (7) can be made stationary at the start of each working cycle. The rotation of the rollers (8) can be controlled via cam disks (9, 10), as can the movement of a wrapper support (3) which feeds the wrapper (2) to the roll (1) as a function of the rotation of the rollers (8). <IMAGE>

Ein Verfahren zum maschinellen Überrollen eines Zigarren-, Zigarillo- oder Stumpenwickels ist so geschaffen, daß die Arbeitsleistung insgesamt gesteigert und der Ausschuß vermindert werden kann. Zu diesem Zweck wird ein Deckblatt (2) mit seinem Endbereich an ein Ende eines ruhenden Wickels (1) angedrückt und dieser dann gemeinsam mit den zunächst stillstehenden Rollwalzen eines Rollapparates in Rotation versetzt Zur Durchführung des Verfahrens nach der Erfindung ist eine Überrollvorrichtung mit einem Rollapparat (7) und einem Deckblatträger (3) so gestaltet, daß die Rollwalzen (8) des Rollapparates (7) zu Beginn jedes Arbeitstaktes stillstetzbar sind. Die Rotation der Rollwalzen (8) ist ebenso über Kurvenscheiben (9, 10) steuerbar wie die Bewegung eines Deckblattträgers (3), der das Deckblatt (2) in Abhängigkeit von der Rotation der Rollwalzen (8) dem Wickel (1) zuführt.
