[origin: EP0195948A2] The insertion of a high-pressure pump which can be driven independently is envisaged in the fuel feed to the injection pump. This is intended to make it possible to supply the injection pump with a high admission pressure. Provision is furthermore made for the possibility of simultaneously supplying the spring space of the nozzle holder of the injection nozzle with the admission pressure. It is thus possible to guarantee the opening and closing of the nozzle needle of the injection nozzle at pressure values which already guarantee optimum mixture formation conditions. <IMAGE>
