Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0196250A1] 1. A capless can, comprising a receptacle (10) of generally parallelepipedal shape and a lid (30), the receptacle (10) comprising an upper wall (14) perforated with an aperture (26), for pouring the liquid contained therein, and with an aperture (24) for the intake of air, and on which the lid (30) can be moved between a closed position, in which it seals off the two apertures in relation to the free air, and an operational position, in which the air-intake aperture (24) and the pouring aperture (26) are communicated respectively with the atmosphere and with a pouring spout formed on the lid, said can being characterised in that the lid (30) is formed by a hollow member which comprises a side wall (32) fitting together in a continuous manner with the side wall (19) of the can (10), a smooth flat upper wall (28) and a lower wall (30) covering the upper wall (14) of the can and perforated with at least one aperture (34) which communicates, through an interior cavity (38) of the lid, with a pouring spout (36; 62) formed in the vicinity of one end of the lid, said lid being mounted to slide on said upper wall (14) in such a way that when it is brought into the operational position it communicates the air-intake aperture (24) with the atmosphere and communicates the pouring aperture (26) with the pouring spout (36; 62) through the lid aperture (34) and the interior cavity (38), the lid being guided in its movement by the co-operation of at least one longitudinal rib (42) and at least one longitudinal groove (40) formed on the walls in contact with the can and with the lid so as to be invisible when the lid is in the closed position.
