Abstract (en)

According to this process, the end of such a sheath (1) and that of the thick external sheath (3) made of a plastic material, provided around the latter, are pinched together between two metallic strips (6 and 7) while at the same time embossing the metallic sheath (1) with a series of protuberances (15) so as to increase its surface area in contact with the respective jaw, which is done by forcing in a plurality of studs (9) which project out from the inner side. By means of these same projecting studs (9), and by providing a sharp edge to the other clamping jaw (7), the corresponding portions of the external sheath (3) made of a plastic material are detached and the plastic covering existing on the external face of the metallic sheath (1) is removed; this is done at the position of each projecting protuberance (15) embossed in the latter. The process and the corresponding connection device may be used for ensuring a conductive link between the metallic sheaths of two telecommunication cables or for connecting such a sheath to ground. <IMAGE>

Procédé et dispositif pour la connexion des gaines de protection en métal des câbles de télécommunications. Selon ce procédé, on pince ensemble l'extrémité d'une telle gaine (1) et celle de la gaine externe épaisse (3) en matière plastique, prévue autour de celle-ci, entre deux lames métalliques (6 et 7) en emboutissant en même temps dans la gaine (1) en métal, une série de protubérances (15) de façon à augmenter sa surface de contact avec la mâchoire respective, et ce par enfoncement d'une pluralité de plots (9) prévus en saillie du côté intérieur. Au moyen de ces mêmes plots saillants (9), et en prévoyant une arête vive sur l'autre mâchoire (7) de serrage, on détache les portions correspondantes de la gaine externe (3) en matière plastique et on élimine le revêtement plastique existant sur la face externe de la gaine en métal (1); et ce à l'endroit de chaque protubérance saillante (15) emboutie dans celle-ci. Le présent procédé et le dispositif correspondant de connexion peuvent être utilisés pour assurer une liaison conductrice entre les gaines en métal de deux câbles de télécommunications ou pour raccorder une telle gaine à la terre.
