[origin: WO8602298A1] A bar casting device, based on the use of a casting wheel (5), whereby molten material is fed into an externally open recess which runs along the outer circumference of the casting wheel in its peripheral direction and radially to the wheel. During the rotary movement of the casting wheel the material partly solidifies, with the creation of a solid jacket in the recess. At least in the time up to the formation of the solid jacket, the recess is closed off by an endless steel band (6), pressed against the casting wheel, and fed over deflection rollers (7, 8 and 9). The force of application of the steel band is provided by a chain (11) which is arranged in the application region of the casting wheel, behind the steel band when seen from the casting wheel. This chain is subjected to a corresponding tensile force. For this, one (10) of the deflection rollers (8, 9, 10) for the chain is movably supported and subjected to a force which exerts a tensile force in the chain.
