A two-track configuration of the packaging machine doubles the output at a given speed (number of strokes). By the special designing of a cigarette magazine (26) in conjunction with a group turret (28), it is accomplished that the formation of cigarette groups (21) and the insertion into the pockets (64) of the group turret (28) can be performed within adequately set stroke times at a high output of the packaging machine.
