Steam generator with a hot-gas reaction chamber (1) through which a substantially stoichiometric mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is able to flow, which mixture reacts in the reaction chamber (1) to form water vapour, with cooling channels (5) for water in the wall (4) of the reaction chamber (1), which communicate with the reaction chamber (1) via injection openings (13; 26) acting as throttles, and with a vaporization chamber (22, 24) which is located downstream of the reaction chamber (1) and with which the reaction chamber (1) communicates via a flow constriction (25), the vaporization chamber being formed as annular space (22, 24) coaxially surrounding the reaction chamber (1), characterized in that the vaporization chamber comprises an inner annular space (22) directly connected to the reaction chamber (1) and an outer annular space (24) located downstream thereof and also arranged coaxial to the reaction chamber (1) and in that the flow constriction (25) is arranged between the two annular spaces (22, 24).
