[origin: WO8602172A1] An arrangement for automatically obtaining lateral alignment between a pair of substrate being optically coupled together. An alignment ridge (32) is formed on the top surface of a first substrate (10) and is disposed to be parallel with a plurality of optical waveguides (12) formed in the first substrate. A corresponding alignment groove (38) is formed in a second substrate (14) which may contain a plurality of fibers (16) held in associated v-grooves (18).

Un agencement permet d'obtenir automatiquement l'aligement latéral d'une paire de substrats optiquement couplés. Une arête d'alignement (32) est formée sur la surface supérieure d'un premier substrat (10), disposée parallèlement à une pluralité de guides d'ondes optiques (12) formés dans le premier substrat. Une rainure correspondante d'alignement (38) est formée dans un deuxième substrat (14) pouvant contenir une pluralités de fibres (16) retenues dans des rainures triangulaires associées (18).
