Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0198220A2] 1. A hot air generator having a combustion chamber (8) which is heated by a burner and the flue gases from which flow through the primary side of a heat-exchanger (20), a blower (4) which forces ambient air which is to be heated through the heat-exchanger (20) into an exhaust chamber (25), and a circular cylindrical jacket (23) which surrounds the combustion chamber (8) and the heat-exchanger (20) and defines at one side between itself and the combustion chamber (8) an annular channel (24) for one part of the ambient air, which is led over the secondary side of the heat-exchanger (20), and at the other side between itself and the sidewalls of a housing (6) enclosing all of the components, an annular space (28) surrounding the jacket (23) on all sides for the remaining part of the ambient air which is mixed by concentric afflux with the ambient air heated by the heat-exchanger (20), characterized in that a) the housing (6) is made box-shaped and has an essentially square cross-section ; and b) the interior of the jacket (23) and the annular space (28) are closed off by a bottom plate (3) at the bottom end of the jacket (23), the outlet from the blower (4) passes through the bottom plate (3) to the interior of the jacket (23), and in the jacket (23) close to the bottom plate (3) and distributed round the circumference a number of openings (27) is provided which pass through into the annular space (28) and are so dimensioned that approximately one third of the total amount of air delivered by the blower (4) is fed to the annular space (28).
