Apparatus for tightening of a threaded connection, so as to exceed the yield point thereof, about an axis (Z) by means of combined torque and rotary angle control, comprising (a) a tubular housing (1) having a handle (3) at one end, (b) a head piece arranged at the other end of the tubular housing (1) and adapted to be coupled to the threaded connection, (c) a torque-responsive device, which responds to the torque exerted through the handle (3) and the housing (1) on the head piece and the threaded connection when this torque exceeds a predetermined value, and (d) a device for measuring the rotary angle when tightening the threaded connection, which device has an angle indicator, which indicates a predetermined value when the predetermined torque is reached, characterized in that (e) the device for measuring the rotary angle is adapted to drive the angle indicator (37) through a sliding clutch (47, 49), (f) a locking device (21, 56) is arranged to stop the angle indicator (37) in said predetermined value of the rotary angle, and (g) the locking device (21, 56) is automatically releasable when the device (11, 18, 24) responding to torque responds.
