Vierzylindermotor mit verlängerter Expansion, bei dem zwei der Zylinder um 360° phasenverschoben nach dem Viertaktprinzip arbeiten und die weiteren Zylinder nach dem Zweitaktprinzip zur Nachexpansion und Nachverbrennung der Abgase der nach dem Viertaktprinzip arbeitenden Zylinder dienen, bei dem die Einlassöffnungen der der Nachexpansion dienenden Zylinder mit den Auslassöffnungen der nach dem Viertaktprinzip arbeitenden Zylinder über je einen ventilgesteuerten Zwischenspeicher miteinander verbunden sind, derart, dass die Abgase in jedem Zwischenspeicher während eines Taktes der nach dem Viertaktprinzip arbeitenden Zylinder zur weiteren Verbrennung verbleiben.
