[origin: EP0198690A2] Additives useful as dispersants and/or detergents in lubricating oils and hydrocarbon fuels are polyamino alkenyl or alkyl succinimides wherein one or more of the amino nitrogens of the succinimide is substituted by R4OR5-O(@)m@- wherein R4 is hydrocarbyl of from 1 to 30 carbon atoms; R5 is hydrocarbyl of from 2 to 30 carbon atoms or -R6-(OR6)p- wherein R6 is alkylene of 2 to 5 carbon atoms and p is an integer from 1 to 100; and m is 0 or 1.
