[origin: EP0199270A2] To keep a window or door leaf in an ajar position, a housing (2) is fastened to the window or door jamb (1), and in this housing a receiving slot (4) for a catch pin (6) assigned to the leaf (5) is provided and a catch body (10) with at least one catch recess (11) for the catch pin is mounted displaceably, transversely relative to the receiving slot (4), between a locking position and a release position. To ensure a low constructional height, whilst at the same time guaranteeing simple handling, the receiving slot (4) extends parallel to the jamb leg carrying the housing (2) and has an introduction orifice (7) closable by a blocking slide (8) and intended for the catchpin (6) articulated on the leaf by means of a link (19). Furthermore, the catch body (10) is displaceable out of its locking position into its release position counter to the force of a restoring spring (14). <IMAGE>
