Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0199987A2] A device for making a firm but releasable connection between two parts movable relative to one another, which can advantageously be used especially as a suitcase lock, is described. An essential component of the device is a thin flexible band which possesses a lock bolt on one side in the region of a closing point and actuating elements on its other side in the region of an operating point. The flat band thus performs, among other things, the function of transmitting the movement of an actuating element to a lock bolt. In the closed state, the bolt device is preferably blocked by an electrical control. Clearance is obtained only when a numerical code preset via a coding switch is entered in a key pad. <IMAGE>
