Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0200115A2] 1. Safety mechanism for preventing the closure elements (3) of closures of buildings and vehicles from dropping, more especially in the case of sectional doors, wherein the closure elements (3) are guided by rollers (6) or the like in lateral rails (4) and are counterbalanced by weights, springs (7) or the like in conjuction with ropes, chains or the like, and wherein also the rollers (6) are retained by laterally protruding pins (5), characterized in that an elongate catch (12), having a plurality of recesses (14) which follow one another in the longitudinal direction of the catch (12) for the accommodation of the pins (5), is provided for the pins (5), which catch is disposed parallel to the rails (4) and is displaceable transversely thereto from a position of rest into an operative position (catching position), such being in dependence upon a restoring force (compression spring 25), which is released if the equilibrium between the closure elements (3), on the one hand, and the weights, springs (7) or the like, on the other hand, is disturbed, and in that the catch (12) is identical to, or longer than, the mutual spacing between pins (5) or rollers (6), which follow one another in the longitudinal direction of the rails, and is guided or mounted on parallel guide rods (11) which extend substantially horizontally when the catch (12) is in its position of rest and are downwardly orientated in the operative position.
