[origin: EP0200671A2] The furnace has a thermally insulated furnace vessel which receives the liquid metal bath and at least one submerged heating element projecting into the liquid metal bath. There is introduced into the liquid metal bath at least one submerged wall which separates off the region receiving the submerged heating element from the remaining region of the molten bath. The dimensions of the submerged wall are selected in such a manner that an exchange of the liquid metal between the regions is possible. <IMAGE>
