[origin: WO8600094A1] A method of etching material by subjecting the material to chemical action by a liquid etchant and a device for performing said method. An electrolyser (26) is provided for recovery of etched material from the etchant by electro-deposition. The electrolyser (26) is a substantially closed or closable vessel with cathode and anode electrodes positioned therewithin. Pump means (P1) is provided for effecting flow of the etchant from an inlet to an outlet of the vessel whereby on application of an electric potential to the electrodes the etched material is deposited on one of the electrodes. The method is especially useful in the recovery of copper from CuCl2-etchant by direct electro-deposition without accompanying development of chlorine gas.

Procédé de gravure de matériaux, consistant à soumettre le matériau à l'action chimique d'un décapant liquide, et dispositif permettant d'exécuter ce procédé. Un bac d'électrolyse (26) permet la récupération par électrodéposition du matériau attaqué par le décapant. Le bac d'électrolyse (26) est un récipient sensiblement fermé ou pouvant être fermé, contenant des électrodes d'anode ou de cathode. Un organe de pompe (P1) produit un écoulement de décapant depuis un orifice d'admission à un orifice de sortie du récipient. En appliquant un potentiel électrique aux électrodes, le matériau attaqué se dépose sur l'une des électrodes. Ce procédé est particulièrement utile dans la récupération de cuivre à partir d'un décapant CuCl2 par électrodéposition directe sans dégagement concomitant de gaz de chlore.
