Testing and sorting device for tiles, including a conveyer belt (1), an optical measuring device and a testing device, wherein each tile is picked up from the conveyor belt (1) by a tilting device (6) with thereto attached testing device (3), examined by the measuring device (17) and either dropped as a reject or deposited on another conveyor belt (2) for further transport, - the testing device (3) is connected to an optical measuring device (17) and comprises probing pins (16) for probing the surface of a tile (5, 5', 5") to be tested for quality ; - wherein the upper sections of the probing pins (16) facing away of the respective tile are linked to a transmission device (18) which is part of the optical measuring device (17) ; - the transmission device (18) is a three-armed lever (18), tiltable around a rotational point (26), the one lever arm (22) of which, on passing one of several light barriers (25, 50), actuates one of these light barriers, the second lever arm (20) of which is spring-tensioned, and the third lever arm (16) of which is connected to the upper section of the probing pins (16), and - the measuring and testing device (3, 17) is connected to a control unit (80) through which the removal of the tile (52') deposited on the lower conveyor belt (2) is controlled relative to the individual quality grouping.
