[origin: GB2172910A] Intimate mixtures of certain amines and a dispersing aid, e.g. a Bronstedt acid are useful for mixing with conventional detergent ingredients to provide through-the-wash fabric softening. Specified mixtures are lauryl-N,N-dimethylamine and lauric acid, coco-N,N-dimethylamine and coco fatty acid and myristyl-N,N-dimethylamine and citric acid. Alternatively, such mixtures are associated with a sheet suitable for addition to a wash liquor. The mixtures may also contain a clay softener.
