A device for mixing and/or homogenising a flowable material, especially a cream, comprising a container for the substance having a rotor and a stator, which externally embraces the rotor, rigidly arranged in the region of the container bottom, in which respect the substance is sucked in by the rotor and driven out through the stator, an outlet opening for the substance in the region of the container bottom radially outside the stator, closure means for the outlet opening, and a plate which covers the rotor, the stator and the outlet openings and which has an inlet opening for the mixture to the rotor-stator arrangement, an annular gap being provided between plate edge and container bottom, characterised in that the outlet opening (17) comprises a valve seat, and the closure means comprises a valve plate (18), in that a device (16) is provided for lifting and lowering the plate (14), which covers the outlet opening, in that the annular gap is present between plate edge and container bottom (1) when the plate is in its elevated position, and in that the plate edge is sealed with respect to the bottom of the container (2) when the plate is in its lowered position.
