[origin: WO8603531A1] The folding barrier post (1) is equipped with a drive (10) which causes it to pivot around a hinge axis (2), and can be switched by a receiver which matches a portable transmitter, whereby the drive (10) and receiver are preferably arranged in the hollow post (1) on a mounting rail. Preferably, the drive (10) actuates a capstan (11) for a cable (13) which is fed around a fixed deflection roller (14), the other end (15) of which is secured in the ground in front of the post (1) in the direction of folding. The post (1) which folds down in the approach direction is preferably arranged to slope in the said direction, or is provided at its tops with a weight which effects an overhang in the direction of approach, in such a way that the post, on being released, folds down as a result of its own weight; a hydraulic jack with a hydropneumatic accumulator can reduce the energy consumption. The drive (10), which is preferably designed as an electric motor, can, owing to the presence of solar cells arranged on the outer side of the post (1), be provided with intermediate switching of an energy accumulator, as well as with a flashing light. A heating system for the drive (10) ensures the operation of the latter in the event of unfavourable weather conditions. The receiver can be designed as a selenium cell which responds only to a headlight flash or other suitable light source; alternatively, such a selenium cell can switch the receiver in response to the transmitter; in addition, a switching circuit board or induction loop which responds to the parked or arriving vehicle can immediately switch the drive and/or receiver.
