An explosion-protected automatic circuit breaker has a conventional protective circuit breaker (11) inside an explosion-protected, encapsulated housing (10). In order that this protective circuit breaker can be operated from outside, an explosion-protected cut-out (44; 46) is provided in the housing, located transversely with respect to the connecting line between the two connecting terminals (24, 25), precisely at the point at which the point of rotation of the operating lever (12) of the protective circuit breaker (11) is located, a rotating shaft (41) being rotatably supported in the cut-out (44; 46). Outside the explosion-protected housing (10), an operating lever (49) is connected to the shaft (41) and a bracket device (51, 42; 37) is provided on the inner end of the shaft (41), which surrounds the operating lever (12) of the protective circuit breaker (11) in a positive-locking manner. Ein explosionsgeschützter Selbstschalter besitzt einen im Inneren eines explosionsgeschützt gekapselten Gehäuses (10) einen handelsüblichen Leitungsschutzschalter (11). Damit dieser Leitungsschutzschalter von außen betätigt werden kann, ist quer zur Verbindungslinie der beiden Anschlußklemmen (24, 25) genau die an der Stelle, an der sich der Drehpunkt des Schaltknebels (12) des Leitungsschutzschalters (11) befindet, ein explosionsgeschützter Durchbruch (44; 46) im Gehäuse vorgesehen, in dem eine Drehachse (41) drehbar gelagert ist. Außerhalb des explosionsgeschützten Umgehäuses (10) schließt an die Achse (41) ein Betätigungsknebel (49) an und am inneren Ende der Achse (41) ist eine Klammereinrichtung (51, 42; 37) vorgesehen, die den Betätigungsknebel (12) des Leitungsschutzschalters (11) formschlüssig umfaßt. Dadurch wird die Betätigung des im Inneren befindlichen Leitungsschutzschalters erheblich vereinfacht.
