[origin: EP0205316A1] A magnetron (30) is provided with at least one choke (B1) for harmonic frequencies of the fourth harmonic or higher and in particular the fifth harmonic etc. in the interior of the metal container (37). The space in the diametric direction inside an opening (37b) of the metal container hermetrically sealed from the anode (31) is limited to not more than about 1/2 of the wavelength of this higher harmonic.
