[origin: EP0205930A1] The burglary detection system has a central station which regularly scans the individual signal lines for their instantaneous measured values and compares the latter with various setpoint measured values. If the scanned measured value (MW) differs from a quiescent setpoint value (MWR) by a specified amount, a first counter (Z1) is increased by 1 and the scanned measured value (MW) is compared with further setpoint values for line break (MWD) and short circuit (MWK). In the event of equality with a setpoint value for line break or short circuit (MWD or MWK), a second counter (Z2) is increased by 1. If the scanned measured value (MW) corresponds to the quiescent setpoint value (NWR), the counters (Z1, Z2,...) are set to zero. If the first or the second counter (Z1 or Z2) reaches a specified counter reading (ZW NR; ZW K/D), the chosen counter reading (ZW K/D) of the second counter (Z2) being lower than the counter reading (ZW NR) of the first counter (Z1), an alarm signal (ANZ AL) is emitted for the signal line concerned if it is activated. If the second counter (Z2) reaches its preselected counter reading (ZW, K/D) in the absence of activation, a fault signal (ANZ K/D) is emitted. <IMAGE>
