An internal combustion engine having at least one oil-cooled cylinder (2') and a cylinder tube (2) inserted into the crank-case and resting thereon, a cooling chamber (8) being provided between the cylinder tube (2) and an outer housing (4), through which chamber oil is conveyed in the operation of the internal combustion engine and which chamber comprises an oil inflow (5) and an oil outflow (6), characterised in that at least a part of the cylinder tube (2) is provided with a cooling plate (3) formed as a heat transmission element which is laid upon the cylinder tube surface, which has no channels, ribs or grooves arranged on the cylinder tube (2), and is firmly connected with the cylinder tube surface by soldering or equivalently-acting technological methods.
