[origin: US4738312A] A cable cutting sub or coupling for drilling, production, well logging or troubleshooting operations in wells, comprising a drilling pipe in which a cable is engaged. This sub allowing the cable to be severed if required comprises a tubular body in which a liner may slide. The side wall of said tubular liner has an opening in which is engaged a member for severing the cable and said liner is movable from a first position offering free axial passage to the cable to a second position in which an internal shoulder of said liner urges the cable against said severing member.

Raccord coupe-câble pouvant être incorporé à une conduite de forage dans laquelle est engagé un câble.Ce raccord, permettant, en cas de nécessité, le sectionnement du câble, comporte un corps tubulaire dans lequel peut coulisser une chemise. Il est caractérisé en ce que la paroi latérale de ladite chemise tubulaire (5) présente une ouverture dans laquelle est engagé un organe (16) de sectionnement du câble et en ce que ladite chemise (5) est déplaçable d'une première position (Fig. 1) offrant un libre passage axial au câble (2) une séconde position (Fig. 2) dans laquelle un épaulement interne (15) de ladite chemise (5) appuie le câble (2) contre ledit organe de sectionnement (16).
