[origin: EP0207053A2] The method employs hydraulic motors (1), the angle of tilt of which is adjusted by an actuator (2) for the purpose of altering the capacity and hence the torque which can be transmitted. In addition, a restrictor (4), the aperture cross-section of which is adjustable, is inserted in the fluid feed. Control is effected in such a way that the angle of tilt for transmitting a specified torque is adjusted in an adjusting movement decoupled from the control of the speed, prior to the occurrence of a load torque, the control of the speed being effected exclusively by altering the energy supply to the hydraulic motor, whereupon, to maintain the working speed after the occurrence of a load torque, the control of the speed is effected taking into account in the control of the speed the actuating device for the adjustment, in particular the angular adjustment, of the hydraulic motor. <IMAGE>
