[origin: EP0207715A1] A dispenser (10) for liquid soap includes a compressible nipple (31) having an annular flange(33) motmtable on a soap container (12) in communication with the outlet opening (16) thereof, and ctamping therebetween a valve assembly (50) inchding a slitted flexible diaphragm (51) and a backing disc (55). The disc has a discharge opening (56) in alignmerrt with a check valve slit (52) in the diaphragm for controlling discharge of soap into the nipple for dispensing opon compression of the mipple. The disc and the nipphe menge respectively have another grooves (57, 40 formed in the facing surfaces thereof, a vent valve slit (53) in the diaphnagm being aligned with these grooves. The flange groove (40) communicates with the outside of the nipple through a vent opening (41) and the disc groove (57) communicates with the outlet opening of a container through a vent orifice (58.) in the disc. The diaphragm thickness is less than the depth of the disc groove and greater then the depth of the nipple flange groove, so that it can open inly inwardly to permit air to enter the container, but cannot open outwardly to permit discharge of soap through the vent opening.
