Abstract (en)

1. An external rolling shutter for a pivoting roof window which comprises an inclined fixed frame and a glazed casement mounted on said frame in such a way that it can pivot around a horizontal axis, the device comprising : - a shutter disposed above the window and hinged on the upper part of the fixed frame in such a way that it can swing upwards, this shutter comprising a rigid frame provided with a winding box girder in its upper part, two lateral guides integral with the box girder, and a lower cross bar, and a mobile apron designed to slide along lateral guides and to be wound onto a drum in said box girder, - guide means in the lower part of the frame of the shutter with respect to the lower end of the casement of the window, and - a control mechanism for winding and unwinding the apron of the shutter, characterised in that said control mechanism (30 to 32) is integral with the fixed frame (1) of the window and is located beneath a covering plate (6) fixed to the upper part of said frame, and extending downwards beneath the upper edge of the casement (3) when this is closed, this control mechanism being manoeuvred from inside the window, in that the control mechanism comprises traction and locking means (30) for one end of at least one strap (26), the other end of which is fixed to the winding drum (12) of the apron (11), in that said strap is wound with the apron and on said apron around the drum in the box girder (13) disposed above said covering plate, and in that the path of said strap (26) passes downwards round the covering plate (6), by means of a sheave pulley (33) fixed to the lower edge of said plate, the drum (12) being made to rotate by spring means (25) acting in the opposite direction to the tension of the strap, so as to wind the apron and the strap onto the drum.
