[origin: EP0208282A2] The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for measuring the relative position of register mark pulses which can each be detected with sensing devices, and possibly reference pulses and blanking signals for each revolution of printing cylinders for register control in rotary printing machines by means of an oscilloscope. In each case, the output signals of the sensing devices for the register mark pulses, the reference pulse generator and the blanking signal generator are time-multiplex detected with an equal number of read-outs relative to the circumference of the particular printing cylinder. The output signals are then digitised and read into a digital image refresh memory. The stored read-out values are read out of the image refresh memory as required and displayed on the oscilloscope. <IMAGE>
