Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8604220A1] A permanent wave curling device (2) having a handle (10), a mandrel (4) and a wave solution reservoir (8) threadably attached to the mandrel (4) at the end opposite the handle (10). The handle (10) encloses electrical circuitry necessary to control the electrical current to a heating element (20) positioned within the mandrel (4). The heating element (20) is positioned within the mandrel (4) and receives wave solution from a rod (36) and wick (38) assembly that transport wave solution from the reservoir (8). The hair (6) to be curled is wound about the mandrel (4) and anchored thereto by a retaining clamp (50). Heat from the heating element (20) is conducted through the mandrel (4) to the hair (6) in a conventional manner. The rod (36) and wick (38) assembly transports the wave solution from the reservoir (8) by capillary action into the interior of the mandrel (4). The user may selectively rotate the rod (36) and wick (38) assembly by way of an actuation lever (43) to place the wicks (38) in direct contact with the heating element (20) to vaporize the permanent wave solution along the length of the heating element (20) to uniformly disburse vaporized solution through the apertures (48) in the mandrel (4) and into the hair (6).
