Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0211987A2] The device is used in metallurgy, mechanical engineering and other fields of technology. The object of the invention is achieved by an arrangement which has two gripping mechanisms (5a, 5b) in which the workpieces (6) to be treated are held. The device is equipped with a polishing tool (7) which is connected to a source of lubricant and coolant. According to the invention, an end piece (2a, 2b) is arranged in each of the gripping mechanisms (1a, 1b). The end pieces (2a, 2b) are formed in the front part of a feeding impulse means (1a, 1b). A polishing tool (7) is inserted in a floating manner into one end of the workpiece (6) to be treated. Each gripping mechanism (5a, 5b) is provided with a non-contacting transmitter (8a, 8b) connected by means of a valve (9a, 9b) to the source of lubricant and coolant. The polishing tool (7) consists of a porous-elastic element on whose cylindrical surface helical channels (12) are formed. The porous-elastic element (11) is provided with end pieces (13) which are movably mounted in sleeves (14). The advantages of the device according to the invention are that the technological possibilities are expanded by virtue of the fact that workpieces with long openings and with small diameters of the openings can be treated. At the same time, a high flatness quality is achieved. The polishing process runs in oil, in the course of which ample lubrication and effective heat dissipation are realised and the operating productivity is increased. <IMAGE>
