[origin: WO8605140A1] A straw compressor has a piston (7) reciprocal in a tube (8), the piston being actuated by a flywheel (4) driven toggle linkage (5) which straightens at the end of each working stroke. Straw is delivered laterally into a compression chamber section (11) of the tube (8) when that is clear of the piston so that batches are progressively impacted against the tail of a continuous log being despatched through a restricted delivery end (15) of the tube. This restriction may have adjusting means (17, 18). The delivery into the tube may be by toothed drums (21) drawing straw from the base of a hopper (13). The apparatus may be mobile, to be towed and powered by a tractor, or stationary.

Un compresseur de paille possède un piston (7) effectuant un mouvement alternatif dans un tube (8), le piston étant actionné par une liaison articulée (5) à volant (4) qui se redresse à la fin de chaque course de travail. La paille est délivrée latéralement dans une section (11) de la chambre de compression du tube (8) lorsque cette dernière n'est pas occupée par le piston, de sorte que des quantités de paille sont compressées progressivement contre la queue d'un bloc continu s'avançant à travers un étranglement terminal (15) du tube. Cet étranglement peut présenter un organe de réglage (17, 18). L'alimentation du tube peut être obtenue à l'aide de tambours dentés (21) qui entraînent la paille depuis la base d'une trémie (13). Le dispositif peut être mobile, remorqué et entraîné par un tracteur, ou stationnaire.
