Paper-stacking apparatus for individual sheets of paper, in which the paper to be stacked is fed from below to a sheet stack, characterized by (a) two bearings belts (3, 4) which are supported via supporting elements (25) acting at particular points and which receive the sheet stack (1) and of which the first ends are clamped at fixed locations, each adjacent to one of the side edges of the sheet stack, and the other ends are coupled to one another via tensioning means (11 to 18), (b) two jointly horizontally adjustable deflecting rollers (6, 7) which are arranged at a predetermined distance from one another in the same plane under the sheet stack and over each of which one of the bearing belts (3 or 4) is guided and which, in conjunction with conveying means (23, 24), form a feed station (9) for the individual sheets of paper (10), and (c) electrically controlled transport means (19 to 21) of reversible direction of rotation, which, acting on the feed station, pivot the latter to and fro under the sheet stack with an adjustable horizontal stroke and cycle of movement, in such a way that the leading edge of an individual sheet fed between the deflecting rollers by the conveying means comes into alignment with a side edge of the sheet stack in one of the end positions of the feed station and, during the subsequent stroke movement of the feed station, the individual sheet, taken up by the bearing belt thereby being tensioned under the sheet stack, lays itself against the underside of the sheet stack.
