[origin: US4690178A] This invention is directed to improved mobile hooks for the shed forming device of weaving looms wherein the mobile hooks are disposed at each of the ends of a funicular element. Each hook includes a web bordered by a vertical heel disposed in a slideway formed by grooves made in two opposing separating partitions with the web including a toe adapted to be hooked by the curved ends of a conventional blade element which is utilized to maintain the hooks in their uppermost elevated position. The hooks further include portions which are adapted to be gripped by conventional knives as the knives are moved vertically in reciprocating motion and also a push element adapted to displace the hook retaining blade against the core of an electromagnet which is used to selectively urge the retaining hook into engagement with the mobile hook when the electromagnet is activated.
