Abstract (en)

[origin: WO8604922A1] cDNA for the gene coding for P. falciparum glycophorin binding proteins. The cDNA shows a 150 nucleotide tandem repeat sequence, which codes for a 50 amino acid tandem repeat unit in the proteins. Vectors containing the cDNA, transformed microorganisms, and antibodies produced by immunization with the proteins are disclosed as well. The glycophorin binding protein is found to exist in two forms. One, weighing about 155,000 daltons appears to be the precursor of a second, which weighs about 130,000 daltons.
