A gymnastic apparatus comprising a support bar (1) and a handlebar connected to one another by a connection rod (2), the handles of said handlebar being resiliently movable towards said support bar (1), characterized in that said handlebar is composed of two independent rigid halves (4a, 4b) hinged adjacent their meeting ends to said connection rod (2) at the end thereof remote from said support bar (1) by means of a hinge pin (3) and subjected to the action of a resilient element formed of an elastomeric material as a wedge-shaped body (9) having its base surface supported on the base section (7c) of a U-shaped mounting member (7) itself disposed on and secured to said connection rod (2), and in that said apparatus has associated thereto a set of spring elements having different spring characteristics.
