[origin: EP0217002A2] The medium voltage load-break switch has a main contact (56) with a switch blade (60) supported thereon such that it can swivel, which interacts with a flat extinguishing chamber (62) on switching off. A catchment device is provided onto which the switch blade (60) latches after swivelling out from the flat extinguishing chamber (62). The switch blade (60) may carry a latching lever (14), particularly in the rearward extension, whose latch (40) engages with a clip (12) whose position is fixed. The latched position is disengaged on switching on, the latching elements moving apart from one another such that they do not make contact. <IMAGE>
