[origin: WO8605908A1] An extender (10) for use in connecting electrically a smoke detector (12) mounted against the ceiling (13) with a battery (16) positioned remotely therefrom in a location easily accessible from the floor (21) level. The extender (10) comprises a pair of electrical conductors (22, 24) coupled with a battery (16) accommodated in a box (18) adapted for securing to a side wall (20) and provided with a removable cover (34) attached thereto.
