A signal device consisting of a more or less rigid hollow beacon having a cylindrical form and comprising a body (3) and a base (2) resting on the ground, the said body having at least one part which is of necked form (4, 5) having a narrowed cross-section, this "necking" being provided along the entire periphery of the body (3) and over a reduced band width _h adapted to receive a reflective element, characterised in that the said "necking" forms a cylinder of elliptical cross-section of which the greater dimension (d1 ) of the ellipse is at least slightly less than the cross-sectional dimensioning (D) of the body of the beacom outside of the necked portion.
