A bell-type furnace comprising an insulating bell mounted on a sole, in which the bell (10) comprises a roof (11) carried by a jack lifting device (30-34) and a leteral wall (12) suspended on the roof (11) by means of ties (3) provided with stops (6) so that the roof (11) can be raised in relation to the lateral wall (12) to engage an upper peripheral opening (40) for evacuation of heat and so that the lateral wall (12) can then be lifted up by the roof (11) and raised in relation to the sole (20) for engaging a lower peripheral opening (50) for the introduction of fresh air to the inside of the furnace housing.
