An apparatus (1) for bundling or wrapping elongate objects (59), for example cables, by means of adhesive tape (5) with a hollow cylindrical winding wheel (13) which is provided with a segmental opening (12) and is driven radially and which is provided inside the winding wheel (13) with a co-rotating tape pressing-on device (21), the adhesive-tape receiving means (3) and the winding wheel (13) being arranged so as to lie in the same plane, wherein, in order to form the adhesive tape (5) into loops, the adhesive-tape receiving means (3) is provided with an apparatus (48) for relative movements with respect to a deflexion wheel (6), characterized in that at least one deflexion wheel (6) with freewheel action in the direction of travel of the adhesive tape (5) is provided between the adhesive-tape receiving means (3) and the winding wheel (13) and is in contact with the deflexion (6) on the adhesive side (17).
